Athletics Carterton opened their last club night with a minutes silence in memory of Mr Jim McKenzie, life member and coach of the Club.
We then celebrated his love of the sport withthe Family relays and the competition for the Margaret McKenzie Memorial Batons which were contested this year at the Shotput circle.
Jordan Sinclair arrived in time to put 9.75m and Kate McKay won the other baton with a put of 8.15m.
The Family relays are a hotly contested event with carefully considered adoptions to make up a team. Three heats were required this year to find the A & B final teams.
In the A final, Peter Sinclair and his sons were unable to pull in the Schaef/McKay team in the last leg and so Rex and the girls take the honours this year.
The firewood raffle was won by Matt Harp, thank you to all who supported us.
