Sixty-two people will lose their jobs at Te Wananga o Aotearoa as it shuts down its Kiwi Ora programme because of a lack of funding.
The Herald understands Susan Cullen, director of Ora Ltd and daughter of former wananga chief executive Rongo Wetere, told staff of redundancies yesterday.
The programme has been subcontracted to the wananga (university) for the past four years.
The home-based Kiwi Ora was targeted at migrants wanting to learn more about New Zealand and has helped more than 30,000 students.
Closure of Kiwi Ora will cost 62 jobs
