This weekend saw the 1st round of the Golden Match play with some close matches going down to the wire, this should provide some entertainment in the coming weeks.
With myself involved in an intense battle going down to the 19th hole with Carl Cocks winning the hole which ended a great battle.
Saturday's club competition was a par round with group one being taken out by Chick Reiri on 6 up from 2nd Graham Duckett on 5 up 3rd Steve Hargood 2 up from 4th Daryl Coley 1 up by lot. Group two was won Greg Granich on 4 up by lot from 2nd Alan Biel on also on 4 up from 3rd Brian Stevenson on 3 up by lot from 4th Ron Hutcheson on 3 up.
Holes in two were scored by Robin Britt, Chick Reiri, Brian Stevenson, Carl Cocks and Kevin Hunter.
Nearest the pins were taken out by B Stevenson no.1 Solway Pie Shop, T Tiopira no.3 Mitre 10, C Cocks no.6 McCauley's Transport, B Dick no.8 Solway Butchery, G Duckett no.10 Progressive Engineering, K May no.17.
Women's results for Saturday had Rose Alexander win with all square from 2nd Ngaire Graham with 1 down. 1st round of the Life Members Trophy saw Michele Coley bt Heather Ousey, Evelyn Munn bt Jean Bayly.
Sunday's results saw Ngaire Graham win with 37pts from 2nd Kevin May 36pts from 3rd Graeme Paulsen on 35pts. Group two saw Kingi Ruhe win with 37pts from 2nd Trish Gallon on 36pts from 3rd Bill Leahy on 34pts.
There was one hole in two scored by Fred Brittain. Results of the O Keefe Trophy 3rd round had T Gallon & F Brittain 71 pts from N Graham & B Mitchell 69 pts J Bayly & K May 62 pts N Stevenson & K Gibbs 61 pts. The O Keefe Trophy was Jointly won by N Graham & B Mitchell, T Gallon & F Brittain on 138 pts.
