US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has come to New Zealand with a 60-strong entourage.
But her contingent of advisors, security personnel and 12-car motorcade pales in comparison to the travelling staff afforded to other USA and world leaders.
Her Commander-in-Chief, President Barack Obama, took 500 people to the recent G20 Summit in London.
That included 200 Secret Service agents, six doctors and a personal chef and kitchen staff to provide the President's food and water.
His predecessor George W. Bush was often accompanied by an even larger entourage.
It featured up to 250 Secret Service agents, 150 security advisors, 200 representatives from other US departments, 50 White House aides and 15 sniffer dog teams, along with two identical Boeing 747 jets.
Vice President Joe Biden's motorcade numbered 50 cars on a recent visit to Kenya.
The USA is not alone in its political opulence.
Libyan leader Moammar Khadafy is accompanied on overseas trips by 40 to 50 female bodyguards he calls his "gun girls"
The pistol-packing crew, sometimes referred to as the "Amazon Guard", were part of a 150-strong entourage the controversial leader took to the UN General Assembly last year.
China is tight lipped its political travelling parties, but about 120 businessmen and an undisclosed number of security personel accompanied Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping on his visit to New Zealand in June.
New Zealand Prime Minister John Key's office would not disclose the details of his security entourage.
However, few political leaders are more extravagant than one of the kings of the music world, former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney.
He took 100 people on a recent concert tour to Tel Aviv, including a personal chef and a butler who was assigned to his room 24 hours a day.
