KEY POINTS:
Police have finished their investigation relating to former TV3 sports presenter Clint Brown's night out in Taupo.
However, they are not yet saying whether or not he will be charged.
Police have interviewed several witnesses and reviewed closed-circuit television cameras to try to work out what happened in Taupo on September 13, when Brown was hospitalised with a broken eye socket and concussion.
Several witnesses have been reported as saying Brown was hit after allegedly verbally abusing people.
Taupo police area commander Inspector Kevin Taylor told the Daily Post yesterday the police investigation had been completed.
However, he said he could not comment about the outcome or whether Brown would be charged.
Mr Taylor said no progress would be made until at least next week.
TV3 announced on October 13 that Brown had resigned from the network because it was "time for a change".
He had been a presenter since 1989. Brown was suspended from TV3 shortly after his September 13 night out.
He had been in Taupo for a promotional dinner organised by the New Zealand A1 motorsport team, and was alleged to have been drunk.
A Top Cab Company driver has claimed Brown swore at and verbally abused her.
TV3 launched its own investigation into the incident but has said its results did not clarify matters.
Witnesses have claimed Brown was injured after he was hit by the partner of a woman he insulted, in a separate incident to the alleged verbal abuse of the taxi driver.
