Two climbers stuck at the top of the Wye Creek Waterfall in Queenstown have been rescued by firefighters.
The rescue attempt was launched after one of the pair called emergency services around 4.20pm.
The waterfall was on Kingston Rd, next to Lake Wakatipu. A police spokesman said fire officers had walked up the track to the top of the waterfall and rescued the pair before walking them back down the track.
Land Search and Rescue and Alpine Cliff Rescue were notified, as was a local rescue helicopter. The chopper has now been stood down.
It's not known if the climbers are male or female or how old they are.
