Climber rescued from Mt Cook

A climber has been found on Mount Cook after setting off an emergency beacon last night.

An aerial search discovered the climber, who apparently has a broken leg, early this morning.

A specialist winch crew has been called to lift the person out.

The beacon was first detected last night, but rescue services had to wait until daylight to mount a search.
