An Australian climber has been rescued by helicopter from Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park after he plunged 60m down a snow face on to rocks yesterday.
Police said Peter David Jarvis, 52, who lives in Christchurch, fell at 10.30am near the Waiho Glacier. His injuries included a broken leg.
Mr Jarvis' two companions raised the alarm at Mueller Hut, and he was flown to Timaru Hospital.
