Climber killed in fall near Wanaka

A 27-year-old Italian man fell 50m to his death while rock climbing at Hospital Flat, near Wanaka yesterday.

It is understood he was in New Zealand on a working holiday with his 26-year-old Spanish partner, also a recreational climber.

The man's name has not been released because police were still trying to contact next of kin overseas.
