KEY POINTS:
Searchers have found the body of Alan Beck, missing since Sunday on Mt Aspiring near Wanaka. Mr Beck, 49, was a New Zealander who lived in Melbourne.
He was on a climbing trip on the mountain, but disappeared near Bevan Col on the Bonar Glacier on Sunday morning after he and three others had shared a tent for two days waiting for bad weather to clear.
He left to scout a route down the mountain, but didn't return. Sergeant Aaron Nicholson of Wanaka police said members of the town's land search and rescue group found Mr Beck's body yesterday morning about 15m under an ice shelf near where he was last seen.
