KEY POINTS:
The Parnell Baths will re-open on November 8 after the completion of urgent work on a slip near the swimming complex.
The Auckland City Council has spent $242,000 on stabilising the slip area and on a geotechnical report by engineering firm Tonkin and Taylor.
The remainder of the cleanup is expected to cost about $25,000.
Contractors have been scaling the side of the cliff this month, clearing loose debris and vegetation to stabilise the slip and prevent further erosion.
Parts of the complex and walkways have been closed since August after a slip from the cliff behind the pools left cracks at the top of the cliff.
Contractors have also fixed a timber walkway leading to Pt Resolution Park, realigned a handrail on the cliff edge and put up two rows of barriers and a 1.8m fence to give protection from possible slips above the carpark.
Tonkin and Taylor has reviewed reports submitted by Equinox Capital, which is carrying out the White Heron Pt development, and determined that none of the work undertaken on this project is in breach of its resource consent.
However, the council wants a pohutukawa stump below the development to be "de-wooded" to minimise the risk to carpark users.
Equinox is undertaking its own geotechnical report of the cliff face.
A three-bedroom penthouse apartment at White Heron Pt is on the market for $3.7 million.
The council is expecting the final results of Tonkin and Taylor's report on November 7.
The report will recommend and prioritise follow-up actions to reduce the risk of further slips in the area.
