A young woman suffered serious head injuries falling down a cliff near Maraetai in coastal Manukau City last night.
Radio New Zealand said the ambulance service reported the 18-year-old fell about 10m on to rocks about 8 o'clock.
Specialist emergency rescue teams, including members of the Beachlands Fire Brigade, spent about an hour winching the teenager to safety before she was taken to Middlemore Hospital.
