KEY POINTS:
This Saturday's classic car auction at Turners has a number of head-turning cars up for grabs with something that will appeal to everyone.
Among the star attractions, and you don't often see these two cars side by side on the same day, is a 2007 Ferrari F430 Spider F1 up against a 1975 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4.
They might have the same prancing horse badge, but underneath that familiar red paint scheme are two completely different cars appealing to different sorts of drivers.
The F430 is generally considered one of the best road cars Ferrari has ever produced, fitted with the iconic manufacturers innovative electronic differential (E-diff) first developed by the racing division for the company's Formula One cars.
The F430 Spider boasts a fully automatic electric hood, allowing the adoring public to see and admire the engine at all times. The Spider is powered by Ferrari's new 490bhp, 4308cc V8 engine, which is capable of pushing the car to a top speed of over 310km/h and accelerating from 0-100km/h in just 4.1secs.
For the more traditionally-minded classic types there's the Dino 308 GT4 from 1975.
This was an extremely successful car for Ferrari, being the first in a long line to boast a V8 engine. Although the Dino's wedge-shaped styling was controversial at the time, nobody can argue it wasn't ahead of its time.
And the performance of its quad-cam, 3ltr, V8 did not disappoint, taking the 308 to past 240km/h, with 0-100km/h acceleration of 7secs.
Enzo's best and brightest aren't the only stars on show this weekend.
The Americans have come to the party with a variety of makes and models. The 1972 Buick Riviera is famous for its boat-tail rear end, making it one of the most recognisable Buicks of all time.
This model, now considered an icon, has become a very sought after classic.
Well presented in metallic green with Crager wheels, the very 70s car is powered by a 7400cc V8 engine and this beautiful coupe will get you anywhere in style.
Also available is a stunning Plymouth Fury pillarless hardtop that will make a fantastic summer cruising car, with room for the entire family, plus a few neighbours.
The third in the trio is a superbly maintained 1972 Corvette Stingray. Probably the most noticeable Corvette model there is, in the only colour a Corvette should be; bright red.
Also from the American stable is a pair of big old trucks, a Dodge Ram and Chevy Silverado. Previous owner of the Silverado, Jonah Lomu, had the truck customised with his own interior sound system.
The paint job is even named after him - Jona Jade.
From an earlier era is a 1953 Buick Riviera right-hand drive sedan first registered new in New Zealand. While it is up and running, some restoration is needed before it returns to the road.
Back to the European classics, Turners have a variety of Porsche models with an RSR replica, 911 Lux and 911 SC.
Not to be outdone by its European neighbours, Ford of Britain is represented by a very tidy red 1974 Ford Capri, 3000GT.
This model was heralded in its day as best-priced performance car. From the same era is a nicely restored Triumph GT6 Mk3.
Classic motorcycles are represented by a 1926 Douglas 350 featuring a BMW-style opposed twin motor. This extremely well-restored bike has until recently been registered for road use. And Turners knows it is genuine because it still leaks oil.
The elderly owner is heartbroken knowing his pride and will joy go to a new home.
Turners will be offering around 40 vehicles, including a selection of late-model European prestige cars, some offered by finance companies, at realistic reserves. Viewing is from Friday at noon, and Saturday morning and the classic and prestige auction gets under way at 2.30pm.
