The latest, and most radical, evolution of Britain's supercar-beating Caterham two-seater is about to hit the European market.
It's the much-heralded Seven CSR 260 road car, a Cosworth-powered flier that sprints to 100km/h in just 3.1 seconds and on to a top speed of 250km/h (155mph).
More than 60 examples of the 194kW (260bhp) Caterham Seven have already been ordered in Britain, each priced at around 34,000 ($91,000).
"This is unprecedented demand, given that customers are yet to drive a road-going version of the CSR 260," said Ansar Ali, managing director of Caterham Cars.
The bespoke Cosworth-tuned 2.3-litre engine produces around 300Nm of torque, giving unprecedented power delivery and awesome acceleration in any gear.
"You can guarantee it will embarrass many a supercar," said Ali.
"It is a peerless performer on both the road and the racetrack, and proof that we intend to remain at the pinnacle of lightweight, high performance sports car design and manufacturing.
The race version of the CSR 260 will take centre-stage in the new Cosworth Caterham Masters series, endurance events on six circuits in Europe, including Spa, Valencia and the Nurburgring.
