Prime Minister Helen Clark says the change in administration in the United States will have no effect on the relationship with New Zealand.
George W. Bush has been confirmed as President with Al Gore finally conceding.
Helen Clark believes the transition from a Democratic to a Republican President will have no negative impact on our relationship with the US.
She says New Zealand is a good friend of the United States and that that will continue.
Clark is congratulating Mr Bush for the second time.
She jumped the gun on election night 36 days ago when it first appeared Mr Gore had conceded.
