KEY POINTS:
Tonight's opening night performance of Cinderella On Ice in Wellington has been cancelled because of the inadequate standard of ice at the St James Theatre.
Imperial Ice Stars director Tony Mercer said the performance could have gone ahead, but the ice had not settled enough for them to present the show with all the spectacular leaps, lifts and jumps.
Ticketek said two new shows would replace tonight's show, on Monday, July 28 at 2pm and 7.30pm.
Those with tickets to tonight's show could exchange their tickets for a Monday show or have their ticket refunded.
The stage show, featuring a cast of Olympic and European championship skaters, retells the traditional story, with Cinderella a prima ballerina whose dancing captivates the mayor's son, despite the attempts of her evil stepsisters to steal his affections.
More than 40 people tour with the show, including performers, technicians and a doctor, with a further 17 people required in each venue.
The world premier of the show was performed in Auckland on July 11.
