Between now and Christmas, Masterton District Council is inviting youngsters on a treasure hunt down Queen St, with the chance to win a prize.
At participating shops, children can collect a sheet listing all the shops that have a hidden colourful Santa or reindeer illustration, with a corresponding number.
Once the sheet is filled out with the correct numbers beside each shop, the sheet can be placed in an entry box in any of the shops, to go into a draw for Christmas prizes.
All the shops involved have donated goods towards the competition, says the council's event co-ordinator, Trish Keogh.
"We asked them if they would put in something, and they have been so generous."
