KEY POINTS:
A woman charged with murdering her partner in Kawakawa will spend Christmas in custody.
Rangi Marie Reti, 38, cleaner, of Russell, is charged with murdering Anthony Garvey on September 29.
Police said they were called to a Kawakawa house, about 5pm that day and found Mr Garvey's body, allegedly showing knife wounds.
Reti appeared in Kaikohe District Court for a pre-depositions hearing yesterday. Her lawyer Catherine Cull had indicated she would apply for bail, but after meeting Judge James Rota and prosecutor Mike Smith yesterday the case was stood down.
When Reti re-appeared Ms Cull made no application for bail. Instead the case was adjourned for a further pre-depositions hearing on January 22. Its understood Ms Cull may apply for bail then.
A depositions hearing has been set down for February 25 and 26 next year.
That hearing will determine whether there is sufficient evidence for Reti to stand trial.
