The driver of a vehicle that crashed in Tauranga, killing two young girls on Christmas Day, was arraigned for trial after pleading not guilty in the High Court at Rotorua today.
Hetaraka Hikurangi Reihana, 20, faces two charges of manslaughter over the deaths of Merepeka Morehu-Clark, 14, and her 13-year-old sister Brooklyn Morehu-Clark.
The girls were sitting in the back seat of the vehicle he was driving when it collided with a ute on Welcome Bay Road about 4.20pm on December 25, 2011.
Both girls, who were not wearing seatbelts, died at the scene.
The trial is set down for March 4, 2013 in the High Court in Hamilton.
