A Christchurch woman, nicknamed "Momma Doof", has pleaded not guilty to charges of allowing unlicensed premises to be used for the consumption of alcohol.
Charges were laid earlier this month, after one of Theresa Soper's parties, with 400 teenagers in attendance, was broken up by a riot squad.
For the past two years, the 48-year-old mother and demolition worker frequently used a secluded barn on her property to hold parties for her teenage daughter and her friends.
She was charging a $15 entry fee to cover costs like security.
At the Christchurch District Court this morning, Soper told the judge she didn't know she was breaking the law, saying "I don't want to say I'm guilty when I'm not – just to make things easier."
