More tsunami sirens may be needed along the coast at Christchurch.
Twenty-two have been installed along the coast from Waimairi Beach to Sumner, and they were tested today, Newstalk ZB reported.
Christchurch Civil Defence manager Murray Sinclair said they were as loud as the sirens could be, but there was still concern they might not be loud enough.
He said it might mean more sirens need to go in, and that will be considered in the long term plan.
Further testing will happen twice a year, on the Sunday when Daylight Saving begins and ends.
