KEY POINTS:
A Christchurch man has been charged with illegal possession of what appears to be a collection of historic firearms.
David Allan Watts, 41, unemployed, faced 43 charges when he appeared before Judge Graeme Noble in the Christchurch District Court yesterday.
Defence counsel Vicki Walsh said Watts did not seek bail and he was remanded in custody without plea until November 5.
He is charged with receiving 35 pistols, seven shotguns, two rifles, and assorted ammunition worth $48,700 from an unknown person, knowing that they had been stolen.
Watts is also charged with receiving a stolen police radio worth $4000.
