A man was abducted and beaten in Christchurch last night after being enticed to a carpark where two men attacked him.
The victim was sitting in his car in the central city about 10.20pm when a woman approached him, got into his car and instructed him to drive to a carpark on the corner of Madras Street and Gloucester Street.
Two men appeared in the carpark and, along with the woman, began kicking and punching the victim and demanded he hand over money.
The victim was forced into the passenger seat and driven east along Gloucester Street, where he managed to disable the car and escape, police said.
The attackers ran off through Christchurch East School.
The victim suffered extensive facial injuries and remained in hospital today.
Police were seeking a man on a skateboard who helped the victim outside Christchurch East School and any witnesses to the attack.
