He has returned to the city following on from a visit in 2011.

Last year's Young New Zealander of the Year, Sam Johnson, has been given the honour of introducing his holiness at the event.
The Dalai Lama will tomorrow give an address to students at Canterbury University before he travels south to appear in front of students at Otago University.
