Police are checking people have not moved back into dangerous homes in Christchurch after a home-made sign led some residents to believe their houses were safe.
A section of Bridle Path Rd in east Christchurch reopened today after being closed because of the danger of rocks falling from the hillside above.
A home-made sign had led some residents to conclude their houses were safe to move back into, Civil Defence said.
Acting Senior Sergeant John Pine said police began visiting these red stickered homes between Cooks Place and Ferrymead Park Rd this morning to check no one had moved back in.
The properties were still not safe to enter, he said.
Residents had to respect and obey red and yellow stickers, Mr Pine said.
