Armed police have raided a South Island gang headquarters today in connection with the death of a man at Christchurch Hospital.
Police launched a homicide investigation earlier today.
Detective Senior Sergeant Joel Syme said police were notified of a man taken to Christchurch Hospital this morning with critical injuries. He later died.
The Herald has learned that armed police raided the South Island headquarters of the Mongols gang this evening.
Investigators were searching the property in connection with the homicide investigation.
