Air NZ is extending its $50 one-way airfares from/to Christchurch from anywhere in NZ until midnight on Sunday. There will be $50 standby fares in and out of Christchurch for all of next week. It has also confirmed that airfares will be capped at a certain price and that more capacity has been added. To book a standby fare, phone the contact centre 0800 737 000, visit a Holidays Store, or call them on 0800 737 767.

Telecom is running a campaign to collect analogue landline phones from around the country to distribute to people in Christchurch without power who have only cordless landline phones. Drop spare analogue phones into any Telecom store during retail opening hours.

Lions clubs have already donated more than $50,000 in cash to the Salvation Army and City Mission to help feed displaced people. An internet-based worldwide appeal for money to help earthquake victims has been launched by the international service to its 1.3 million Lions members in 200 countries.

Nelson City Council is offering a night out at Opera in the Park on February 26 to Christchurch earthquake victims who have taken shelter there - free tickets will be available to anyone with some form of Christchurch ID.

Fonterra has donated $1 million to the earthquake appeal and will match whatever its farmer shareholders and staff donate dollar for dollar up to a further $1 million. Fonterra has begun shipping tanker loads of water to Christchurch and will continue to provide UHT milk and water to relief centres as it is needed.

Contact Energy has pledged $1,000,000, including free 9kg gas cylinder refills, to support the people of Christchurch. It has also made available up to $2,000,000 to help customers who are experiencing hardship following the Christchurch earthquake and may need help with their energy bill.

Olympic medallist Nick Willis has organised a charity athletics event, "Track Meet 4 Christchurch", in Wellington, complete with world-class athletes from New Zealand and overseas at Newtown Park tomorrow. The Red Cross will be attending the event to collect donations.

Coca-Cola Amatil has flown 200,000 bottles of water to Christchurch.

Sacred Heart College, Auckland, is having a "Red and Black Day" mufti day today and hopes to raise between $7000 and $14,000.

Heart of the City is setting up an online store on Trade Me where products and services from CBD businesses will be auctioned, with all proceeds going to the earthquake fund.

Flight Centre has pledged $1 million through the Red Cross and will also create an internal fund to support its own people in Christchurch who have been affected.

The Methodist Church of New Zealand is launching an appeal through the church and those associated with it. Donations can be made to the Methodist Church of New Zealand Administration Division, PO Box 931 Christchurch.
