A male driver died in Christchurch this morning after his car crashed into a roadside tree.
Police are investigating the smash which happened on Yaldhurst Rd, near the intersection of Avonhead Rd, at 8.30am.
A spokesman for Christchurch Police said the driver was the sole occupant of the car and no other vehicles were involved.
No more details will be released until next of kin have been notified, police said.
