A Christchurch driver was caught behind the wheel with an alcohol level three times over the legal limit in an early-morning booze operation in the city.
Police say they are disappointed with the driver - and others caught in the sting - and urge motorists not to get behind the wheel after drinking.
On Thursday the Canterbury Impairment Prevention Team conducted a checkpoint in the city area.
Between 8.30am and 2.30pm, police caught four drivers over the legal limit - one three times over.
