A male driver is in serious condition after losing control of his car and crashing into a power pole early this morning in Christchurch.
Emergency services were called to Moorhouse Ave at about 3am and the driver and two male passengers were taken to Christchurch hospital.
Police believed speed and alcohol was a contributing factor to the accident.
The two other passengers had minor to moderate injuries.
A Christchurch Hospital spokeswoman said the man was in a serious but stable condition in hospital this afternoon.
