A police officer suffered multiple injuries when he was dragged along the road by a car that sped away from a traffic stop in Christchurch this weekend.
The incident happened in Harper Ave about 1.55am on Saturday, Inspector Richard Bruce said.
The car was stopped and police officers were speaking with the female driver when a male passenger got into the driver's seat and drove off at speed with the driver's door still open.
A male police officer was dragged along before falling to the ground.
He suffered moderate to serious injuries to his arms and legs and was discharged after being treated in hospital for a few hours.
