Christchurch city park cordoned off after reports of early morning assault

A popular park in the centre of Christchurch city has been cordoned off by police this morning after reports of an early morning assault.

Police tape has blocked off a large section of Victoria Square in the CBD.

A scene guard is in place.

A police spokesperson said they are making inquiries after reports of an assault at around 1.30am.

St John says it has no record of an incident at Victoria Square.
