The deconstruction of Christchurch Cathedral is getting underway this afternoon.
According to reports, a crane is currently being brought into the square to start taking down the building.
The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority says the crane will be set up this afternoon before any work starts on the demolition proper.
