It will be at least September before the Anglican Church in Christchurch makes its decision on the future of ChristChurch Cathedral.
Bishop Victoria Mathews made the announcement at Sunday services today, saying the decision will no longer be in the hands of the Church Property Trustees.
She says the members of the Synod will decide the future of the Cathedral when they meet in September.
Bishop Mathews says from internal surveying they believe people are still very divided over whether to reinstate the Cathedral or commit to a contemporary Cathedral.
