A pupil at a Christchurch school was cut with a knife in an incident this morning.
The 13-year-old boy disturbed a man trying to break into a car in the grounds of the Christchurch Adventist School in the suburb of Papanui.
The would-be thief threatened him and then swung a knife which caught the boy on the chest inflicting a superficial graze wound. The assailant ran off.
Police patrols with dogs scoured the area but were unable to find the assailant.
The boy received treatment at the scene and is not thought to have been seriously injured.
Police inquiries are continuing.
