The air in Christchurch has improved but other threats to the environment remain, a report by Environment Canterbury found.
The Regional Environment Report 2001-2008 found the winter air quality in Christchurch had improved and more people were using the upgraded metro bus system, but chief executive Bryan Jenkins said intensified land use had a "significant impact" on the region's environment.
