The rich lister behind a Christmas hamper empire is selling up to move to Sydney.
Richard Bradley has listed his home set on 24.3 hectares of land at Coatesville, north of Auckland, on the international market.
Bradley, who founded Chrisco in Britain in the 1970s before moving here in 1993, is worth $50 million, according to the National Business Review's latest annual survey of New Zealand's wealthiest people.
Nick Horton, of Browns Sotheby's International Realty, said the park-like property on Mahoenui Valley Rd comes complete with lakes, grapes and olive trees, and was inspired by Europe's grand estates. "It's been brilliantly crafted and every aspect is to the highest quality possible."
The property is an estimated 10-minute helicopter ride from Auckland Airport.
Completed in 2006 it has six bedrooms, a seven-metre tropical fishtank and a 30m lap pool next to the master bathroom.
The grounds include two lifesize sculptures by Geoff Thompson of a mother giraffe and her calf, a tennis court and a koru-shaped maze.
Horton said the property appealed to a "global market" and would be extensively promoted in Europe, the US and Asia.
Horton said the home wasn't being marketed at a set price. Other media have reported it cost in excess of $30m to plan and build.
"The property offers the security and space to enjoy New Zealand's lifestyle," said Horton. "We are seen as a safe haven from the problems of the Northern Hemisphere and properties like this show New Zealand can compete with the rest of the world in luxury homes."
