KEY POINTS:
New Zealanders have the opportunity to see America's "funniest man" live in action, when Chris Rock hits New Zealand for the first time, in August.
The comedian will perform at Auckland's Civic Theatre on August 6 as part of his No Apologies tour.
The tour includes shows in the United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, and is Rock's first overseas.
Tickets for the Auckland show go on sale on June 19.
Rock, who was hailed by Time magazine as "the funniest man in America", has received three Emmy Awards and three Grammy Awards.
He has appeared in several feature films, most recently as the voice of Mooseblood the Mosquito in Jerry Seinfeld's animated Bee Movie with Renee Zellweger and Matthew Broderick.
The comedian is currently serving as both co-creator and narrator of the television series Everybody Hates Chris.
