Rescue helicopters around the country have been kept busy today responding to a series of outdoor accidents.
About 9.30 this morning the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter was called to a Elsthorpe in the central Hawkes Bay after a 26-year-old man fell from the front forks of a tractor while he fed hay to cattle.
He was airlifted to Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital with serious head injuries, and was now in a stable condition.
An hour later the same helicopter was called to Omakere where a 49-year-old shearer had fallen down some woolshed stairs.
He suffered back and spinal injuries and was also airlifted to Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital.
