An experienced helicopter pilot is feared to have died in a crash yesterday near the Lake Te Anau starting point of the Milford Track.
Three other choppers began searching for the aircraft after it failed to arrive at its destination. It was found at 9.15 last night in "very steep'' and rugged terrain, at 2750 feet.
