A helicopter landed in the crater of Mt Taranaki yesterday to rescue an injured tramper.
The 60-year old woman was recovering in Taranaki Base Hospital today with moderate arm and shoulder injuries after falling 6m from the peak while tramping with her husband.
TET Rescue helicopter manager Noel Watson told the Taranaki Daily News said the woman slipped and fell down an almost vertical slope.
The helicopter landed on the northern side of the summit crater and a member of the Taranaki Alpine Cliff Rescue team walked down to the southern side of the crater, where the woman had fallen.
The helicopter then flew over and the woman was winched on board about 4pm.
