Warmer weather is expected for most of the country today, but don't give up on your scarves just yet - strong winds may still carry a cold sting.
The MetService expected temperatures to pick up this week and WeatherWatch said a chilly spell should give way to warmer conditions.
"We're finally looking at the end of an extended cold spell of weather around the country, as a northeasterly airflow is set to take over and dominate conditions on Tuesday," WeatherWatch analysts Aaron Wilkinson and Drew Chappell said.
The northeasterly should contain a fair amount of windy weather, the WeatherWatch forecasters said, but a front would move into the west of New Zealand during the afternoon and evening.
