The Government is closely monitoring a string of financially strained childcare centres in New Zealand.
ABC Learning Centres, which operates more than 1200 centres in Australasia, has had its stock placed in a trading halt since August, when its shares were worth A54c, down from A$7 ($7.95) last year, Australian news reports said.
In New Zealand, an Education Ministry spokesman said he was aware of ABC's financial situation and it was being monitored closely.
