A child trapped in a washing machine in Whanganui had to be rescued by firefighters yesterday evening - but station officer Shane Dudley says it was no problem getting him out.
The front-loading commercial washing machine door locked on the boy, aged about 6 or 7, at a laundromat in Gonville, about 7.30pm.
"We used some hand tools to get him out - we gave the locking mechanism a bit of a spin - he hopped out pretty quickly after we got the door open," Mr Dudley said.
He said the boy was at the laundromat with his dad.
