KEY POINTS:
A man charged with murdering a 16-month-old child in Auckland was today remanded on bail to reappear in court in November.
Abhinesh Sharma, 35, a plumber, is charged with the murder of Sachin Dhani, who died at Auckland's Starship Hospital on June 21 of head injuries.
Judge Patrick Treston lifted name suppression when Sharma made a brief appearance in Auckland District Court today.
Sharma is due back in court on November 20 for a date to be set for a depositions hearing.
Police did not oppose bail on conditions that prevented Sharma from contacting a list of people named in the bail bond and having access to children except under the supervision of Child, Youth and Family.
Sachin, from Mt Wellington, was found badly injured 13km southeast of downtown Auckland after police stopped a car being driven erratically on June 19.
A post-mortem examination showed the boy died from blunt-force trauma to the head.
The charge of murder was laid after what Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Beard described as a difficult inquiry during which complex issues arose.
