A child is dead after being hit by a car while riding his bike in a rural area of the Far North.
A police spokeswoman said a boy was riding his bike in Kimberly Rd, Houhora when he was struck.
St John spokesman Gerard Campbell said an ambulance had been
called to Houhora about 1.20pm today.
He said a car had hit and killed a person.
The Serious Crash Unit had been notified and police were speaking with the driver.
