A 3-year-old girl has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a horse.
The girl was with her family near Linkwater between Havelock and Picton when the horse collided with the child at speed, the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter said.
She was initially treated on scene by ambulance crews then airlifted to Wairau Hospital with injuries to her face and head.
Earlier this month, another 3-year-old child died after being kicked by a horse near Taihape.
The child was kicked at a property on Kelly Rd at Ngamahanga, 65km north east of Taihape.
