A six-year-old boy was hit by a car near an Auckland primary school this morning.
The boy from Edendale Primary School, in the central suburb of Sandringham, was hit by the car in a nearby street before 9am.
Principal Rosemary Vivien told NZPA the driver was backing out of a driveway when she hit the boy.
"The person driving the car called in at the school and reported it. She brought the boy into the school," Ms Vivien said.
He was taken by ambulance to Starship Hospital with minor injuries.
"The parent of the child was notified straight away and she came up to the school. She went to hospital with the boy for a check-up and on the surface he appears to be fine," Ms Vivien said.
