An eight-year-old girl has been struck by a car and dragged for several metres in south Auckland today.
The girl was hit by the car at the intersection of Bader and Idlewild Drive in Mangere about 3.30pm, police northern communications duty operations commander Inspector Lou Alofa said.
She suffered "extensive injuries", including a deep cut to her ankle, he said.
The serious crash unit was investigating.
The girl is the second child to be hit by a vehicle in Mangere in the last few days.
An eight-year-old boy was critically injured after being struck by a van in Massey Rd on Sunday afternoon.
The boy was hospitalised with head injuries.
