Youngsters travelling on Air New Zealand and Ansett New Zealand will soon have to be no older than 11, not 14, to qualify for children's fares.
The changes will increase the price of a three-week advance return fare between Auckland and Wellington by $66.
However, both airlines are cutting children's prices to 50 per cent of adult prices, from 67 per cent.
Air New Zealand will make the changes tomorrow and Ansett will follow on Tuesday.
